Biography
Shubman Gill is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team in all formats. Born on September 8, 1999, in Fazilka, Punjab, Gill has established himself as one of the most talented young batsmen in world cricket.
Gill made his international debut in January 2019 during a One Day International against New Zealand. His elegant stroke play and technical proficiency have drawn comparisons to some of the greatest batsmen in the game. He captained the India U-19 team to the final of the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup, where he was the leading run-scorer for India.
In the Indian Premier League, Gill has been a consistent performer. After starting his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders, he moved to Gujarat Titans in 2022, where he played a crucial role in the team's maiden IPL title victory. In 2023, he was appointed as the captain of Gujarat Titans and won the Orange Cap with 890 runs.
One of his most notable achievements came in January 2023 when he scored 208 runs against New Zealand in an ODI match at Hyderabad, becoming only the fifth Indian batsman to score an ODI double century. This innings also made him the youngest batsman ever to score an ODI double hundred.
Known for his elegant cover drives and ability to play both pace and spin with equal comfort, Gill is considered one of the future pillars of Indian cricket across all formats.
